The Confocal and Conventional Microscopy Resource provides UR Medical Center and UR River Campus researchers access to high-end confocal microscopy, laser capture microdissection, as well as more conventional brightfield and immunofluorescence microscopy. The CCMR provides assistance with all imaging procedures as needed by the investigators. Aid in customizing staining protocols to optimize obtainment of high quality data using Core instruments is also provided.

Welcome to the Confocal and Conventional Microscopy Core

The URMC Confocal and Conventional Microscopy Resource (CCMR) strives to provide UR researchers the ability to obtain high quality imaging data using state-of-the-art microscopy instruments. The Resource also aims to be one of the information hubs for UR resources centering around histological processing, imaging, and image processing and to serve as a conduit for communication between imaging researchers on campus.

Overview

The Confocal and Conventional Microscopy Resource provides UR Medical Center and UR River Campus researchers access to high-end confocal microscopy, laser capture microdissection, as well as more conventional brightfield and immunofluorescence microscopy. The CCMR provides assistance with all imaging procedures as needed by the investigators. Aid in customizing staining protocols to optimize obtainment of high quality data using Core instruments is also provided. The CCMR provides UR researchers the ability and expertise to obtain high quality imaging-based data from tissue, culture, and materials-based research studies.

Core instrumentation includes: an Olympus FV1000 laser scanning confocal microscope, a Palmbeam Laser Capture Microdissection Microscope, an Olympus AH-2 microscope for brightfield and color imaging (H&E), image analysis workstation and an imaging stand for large specimen imaging.

The CCMR is housed in the 4.7500 area of the medical center.

Compiled by editors with hands-on experience in microscopy, teaching, and protocol design and communication, this book provides a practical, bench-side guide to the various methods and applications of the advanced light microscope in the cell biology laboratory. It offers detailed step-by-step instructions written at a level that lets investigators employ even very sophisticated microscopy methods. The result is a resource for seasoned investigators and those new to the use of the microscope alike.
